A look at Pre-Kindergarten

  • In PreK, the teachers are committed to helping the children develop a love of learning and laying a firm foundation for moving forward to kindergarten. The Pre-K child will continue on their journey toward independence in a safe and caring environment with teachers that are committed to lovingly, but firmly guiding them.  In Pre-K, teachers continue to reinforce appropriate behavior in their interactions with others, encouraging the use of words to solve a problem, finding an adult for assistance and making good choices.​

  • All of our children in Pre-K will take the PALS test at the beginning and the end of the school year. PALS is a  Phonological awareness and literacy screening tool that is used to identify strengths and weaknesses in reading. The PALS results at the beginning of the year are used by Pre-K teachers strictly for planning purposes.  The PALS result at the end of school year may be used by parent's to make decisions about kindergarten readiness.
